The Electrical Backbone

What is PV Ribbon & Why Does Its Quality Matter?

In a photovoltaic solar module, PV Ribbon (photovoltaic interconnect ribbon or tabbing wire) serves as the primary electrical conductor. It is soldered across the front and rear contacts of silicon solar cells to connect cells in series, collecting the light-generated electrons and channeling them into the module junction box.

1. Low Resistive Power Loss ($I^2R$)

SolRaw utilizes oxygen-free, electrolytic tough-pitch copper with a guaranteed minimum 99.98% purity, providing conductivity exceeding 100% IACS. This minimizes electrical resistance and maximizes total panel wattage.

2. Anti-Microcrack Protection

Modern thin solar wafers (down to 130 µm) crack easily under mechanical tension. Our annealing process keeps yield strength strictly under 65 N/mm² and elongation above 23%, absorbing day-to-night thermal stress without cracking the silicon.

3. Flawless Automated Stringing

Camber is controlled to less than 3 mm per 1,000 mm length with uniform solder thickness (15–25 µm), ensuring smooth, jam-free feeding in high-speed tabber-stringer lines operating at over 4,000 cells per hour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything You Need to Know About PV Ribbon

Common technical inquiries from solar panel engineers, quality inspectors, and procurement teams.

PV ribbon (photovoltaic ribbon or solar tabbing wire) is a thin, tin-coated copper conductor used to interconnect individual solar cells in a photovoltaic module. It conducts the direct electrical current generated by the cells out to the busbars and junction box with minimal resistive power loss.
